The Quietude
Pasir Ris Street 53 | Executive Maisonette | 1615 sqft
Sitting near the east coast of Singapore, The Quietude is designed as a mega couple apartment for two. The abundance of space in this executive maisonette allowed room for the exploration of many possibilities for the spatial quality of the home.
The design originates from the Japanese philosophy of wabi-sabi, for our clients who embrace the beauty in the imperfect, impermanent and incomplete, as reflected in the rich layering of natural materials throughout the home. As the design was developed iteratively, it unfolded into a space that signals understated luxury, reminiscent of the luxury hotels that our clients stayed in on their regular business trips.

The hallmark trait of a luxurious living experience is effortlessness, and it reflects in the layout of the space. The first level of this home is characterised by its openness, where its users can freely traverse from the living room to the kitchen, and to the balcony. This spatial continuity empowers them to host large gatherings often and easily keep the space tidy with minimal maintenance.

As one ascends to the second level of the home, they are greeted by the full-height stucco textured wall, which embodies the imperfect nature of wabi-sabi. It serves as the element that connects the two levels cohesively, reminding the user of the design philosophy that radiates through the entire home.

The second level, which consists of a bedroom, bathroom and vanity area is fully connected by a full-length mirror seamlessly. The visual continuity created by this connection makes the second level feel even more spacious and evokes a sense of grandeur.
